The personal web pages that deal with the visits to China, Vietnam, and France, over the past twenty years, are long overdue for redevelopment. The first web pages were difficult for a complete beginner, having been told by a friend to create a web page as a start of something new to record things remembered about the travels in the asian countries. Looking at other travel websites, the task appeared almost beyond a limited internet knowledge. 'Create a website' and 'create a web page' haunted dreams and it seemed that the only solution was to get started. The first attempts caused many problems for any relative or friend who had any knowledge of computers, web site design, and web pages. Their first response to any telephone call would be, 'What have you done now?' and usually a few words of advice would result in a solution. Eventually the need for such telephone calls became redundant!

Having started work on the personal web pages, and even getting them uploaded and working on the internet, it seemed that all the problems were at an end. When looking at other web pages that suggested ways in which to improve the webpage designs, for more exposure and greater appeal to other internet users and particularly to search engines, it seemed that there was another battle to be won. There were new ideas to try out, improvements to web pages to be made, new models and subject guides to study. Mistakes were frustrating but through the mistakes came a better understanding of the best ways to create personal web pages. Lurking in the depths of some of the search engine data bases and indexes, are a few of the first web pages created about these visits to China. When these first web pages resurface in response to an internet search, this face turns red with embarrassment. Maybe some people will decide that there have been some improvements during the past years, maybe not, but there is always room for improvement.

A start on reorganising and improving the personal web pages was made about two months ago, and on this page is presented some web pages that have been subject to change, and some web pages that have been recently created. However, it is likely to be many months more before all this redevelopment has been completed, so in the meantime, apologises are offered for any frustrations or disappointments experienced during a visit.

''''' Personal web pages are World Wide Web pages created by an individual to contain content of a personal nature. The content can be about that person or about something he or she is interested in. Personal web pages can be the entire content of a domain name belonging to the person (which would then be a personal website), or can be a page or pages that are part of a larger domain on which other pages are located - an example of one such larger site is GeoCities.
